Herlinda Soto Valdez, PhD
Dr. Soto-Valdez works for CIAD, Centro de Investigación en Alimentación y Desarrollo, A.C. (Research Center for Food and Development) an Institution dedicated to carry out scientific and technological research in food and development, in México. Her research is directed towards packaging technology and the study of interactions between packaging and food. Migration of chemical compounds from food packaging and active packaging technology are her two current fields of research. Dr. Soto-Valdez has a PhD in Food Science (specialization in Food Packaging) given by University of Leeds, UK. She has published more than 20 papers in the field of migration from food packaging to food. She has won the Mexican Award in Food Technology in 2000 and 2010 with the development of active food packaging. She was appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor in 2012.
