My research interests mainly focus on integrating various components of Coupled Human and Natural Systems (CHANS) to understand socioeconomic and environmental interconnections and to create sustainability solutions.
General research topics include:
- how climate change and human activities (e.g., land use, urbanization, grazing etc.) affect the ecosystem processes and services, and also the contributions of these different drivers and their interactions;
- how environmental changes impact the human well-being, how adaptation actions work and what the implications of adaptation measures for resilience of both ecosystems and human societies are;
- what are complex interactions among components in human and natural systems, and how human-environment interactions are influenced by policies.
