Background:
I received my B.S. in Environmental Biology from Michigan State University, where I worked in a lab studying African weakly electric fish. I then joined the Li lab as a summer field technician conducting behavioral trials with adult sea lamprey in northern Michigan. Since then, I've spent time sampling large river fish communities and surveying for invasive silver carp on the Illinois and Wabash Rivers. I now manage the day-to-day operations of the Li lab's lamprey and zebrafish facilities, while also pursuing a Master's degree. My research uses gene editing technology and behavioral assays to study genes involved in male sea lamprey fertility and their impacts on competitive and reproductive fitness.
