 Diana Twede’s expertise is in the economics and perform­ance of packages in production, marketing, and logistical systems. She has a special research interest in the logistical, financial and technical aspects of reusable shipping containers, as well as the history of packaging.  She teaches Packaging Development, the undergraduate senior capstone course, Packaging Economics, and Packaging with Paper and Paperboard, for which she has published a textbook. She has an adjunct position with the MSU Department of Supply Chain Management, which serves as a bridge between departments and colleges. For over 30 years she has worked with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency to evaluate the adequacy of packages for the US food aid programs.  Past research also includes investigations of the causes and prevention of in-transit damage, and the performance of shipping containers.  Dr. Twede also serves as co-editor of Packaging Technology and Science, the top refereed journal in the packaging field.
