MSU Rodeo Club

The The Michigan State University Rodeo Club originated in 1969, and is a proud member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA). As a club, our goal is to keep the traditions and heritage of the American sport of rodeo alive, as well as educate others. The MSU Rodeo Club welcomes all individuals regardless of protected identity, and members do not need prior rodeo experience to join. 

Honored as Seven-Time Recipient of
International Professional Rodeo of the Year

As a club, the students organize and promote Michigan State University’s annual rodeo, the Spartan Stampede. This event is run completely by college students. The Spartan Stampede is recognized by the International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA).  

The club sends a rodeo team to other NIRA rodeos in the Ozark Region. Any qualifying members may attend the Collegiate National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyoming.

Additional club activities include, but are not limited to:

• Various College of Agriculture and Natural Resources events

  • Small Animals Day
• Promotional Events
• Demonstrations for area groups
  • Girl/Boy Scouts
  • Churches and schools
  • Hospital and nursing home visits
• MSU Homecoming Parade and Silver Bells Parade

The Rodeo Club has meetings every other Tuesday at Anthony Hall on the MSU Campus. We welcome any student with an interest in the sport, even if you are not able to compete or have no prior experience.
