PSM graduate students join small group of invited guests to present their research at Bayer

Gloria Baker and Wallas Mendes da Silva participated in the annual BIO "the Bring Them In Spring 2025" event

Recently Gloria Baker and Wallas Mendes da Silva from PSM joined a group of invited graduate students to present their research at an event at Bayer crop Science in St Louis MO. The students were invited after participating in the Bayer Elevator Pitch Event in early March.

“This was one of the most impactful experiences that I have had so far in my career, we got to hear firsthand from so many different people that work at Bayer. Everyone was so supportive and welcoming to those of us at the Bring Them In event, and everyone just wanted to share their career journeys and give us advice on pursuing careers in industry after graduate school.

I would absolutely recommend this event to anyone who is invited! It has been occurring every year, however, there are limited spots (30 of us this year) and I believe that it is only open through invitation after nomination. It gave us so many insights into the inner workings of the agricultural industry and so many points of contact for future networking. The other students that were there were from all over the world, most of whom were from the US, and they were also mostly late in their graduate careers. Therefore, despite having learned so much from the leaders of industry, I also was able to benefit from the diverse perspectives of the fellow students that were in attendance.

About 30 people came by my poster," Gloria said. "Everyone that was at the Chesterfield campus was invited to the poster session."
