Michigan State University Extension hosts blueberry research field day on September 10

Join the MSU Extension blueberry team to learn about ongoing research from this summer.

Join the Michigan State University Extension blueberry team on Sept. 10, 2025, for the fourth annual Blueberry Field Day to share ongoing research with the blueberry industry. The event will take place at the Trevor Nichols Research Center in Fennville, Michigan, providing an opportunity to see the plots where research trials are running. Topics presented this year will include irrigation, disease management, insect integrated pest management, replant tips and soil.

Blueberry specialists from the Michigan State University (MSU) campus and blueberry Extension educators will be available to answer questions and present their research results with hands-on demonstrations.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch provided.

Two restricted use pesticide credits have been requested.

10 a.m. – Sign-in begins 

11 a.m. – Welcome and summary of season from Cheyenne Sloan of MSU Extension, Nancy Nyquist of Michigan Farm Bureau and Chad Reenders of Michigan Blueberry Advisory Committee)

11:30 a.m. – Trichogramma wasps for fruitworm control, Carlos Garcia-Salazar, MSU Extension

12 p.m. – Lunch 

1 to 3 p.m. – Field demonstration stations (15 minutes each with 5 min travel time)
