Michigan State University Extension to host 2025 Restricted Use Pesticide Review and Testing in Montcalm County

MSU Extension in partnership with MDARD will host a 2025 Restricted Use Pesticide Review and Testing at Montcalm Community College on Feb. 12, 2025.

Michigan State University Extension (MSU Extension) in partnership with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) and the MSU Pesticide Safety Educator Program are offering an in-person core manual review class followed by a core pesticide applicator certification testing on Feb. 12, 2025 at the Montcalm Community College, 2800 College Drive, Sidney, MI 48885.

This course consists of a 4-hour review of the National Pesticide Applicators Certification Core Manual. The review of this material will be held in the morning and the exam with MDARD will be given that afternoon. It is recommended that participants read and study the core manual prior to attending the review. If you do not have a copy of the manual or need an updated copy, you may order the manual. The Montcalm County Extension Office (211 W. Main St. P.O. Box 368 Stanton, MI 48888) also has copies available. Please call ahead for core manual availability at the following number: 989-831-7500.

The check-in for the program is from 8–8:30 a.m. The review class will be from 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. with lunch provided. MDARD will begin the testing session at approximately 1 p.m. The cost for this core review class is $25 with payments made to Michigan State University. You can pay by credit card when checking out during the registration for the review, mail payment to the address on the confirmation or invoice, or you may bring a check with you to the session.

The fee for the applicator certification is paid to the State of Michigan. The Commercial Applicator Certification fee is $75, Private Applicator fee is $50, and the Registered Applicator fee is $45. Private applicator certification fees are waived for Military Veterans if a copy of a servicemembers DD214 is provided. A check payable to State of Michigan is the only payment type accepted for the applicator certification fee. Postage paid envelopes to send certification payment to MDARD will be provided at the session. Cash or credit card payments will not be accepted.
