SUMMARY: The Horticulturist is responsible for the planning, cultivation, and maintenance of all landscaped and ornamental areas throughout the golf course and club property. This role ensures that all horticultural features contribute to the aesthetic appeal and environmental health of the grounds, providing a high-quality experience for members and guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Design, plant, and maintain ornamental flower beds, shrubs, trees, and other landscaped areas.

· Monitor plant health, diagnose diseases and pests, and implement appropriate treatment programs.

· Implement sustainable practices including proper irrigation, fertilization, pruning, and integrated pest management (IPM).

· Assist in the selection of plants and materials appropriate to the climate, soil, and design goals.

· Maintain tools, equipment, and records related to horticultural care.

· Work closely with the Grounds Crew and Golf Course Superintendent to coordinate landscaping efforts with golf course maintenance schedules.

· Assist with seasonal decorations and special event landscaping as needed.

· Supervise part-time or seasonal staff, when applicable.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· Degree or certification in Horticulture, Landscape Design, Botany, or a related field preferred.

· 2+ years of professional horticulture or landscaping experience; golf course or high-end resort experience is a plus.

· Knowledge of regional plants, soils, and environmental conditions.

· Ability to safely operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

· Valid driver’s license; pesticide applicator’s license.

WORK ENVIROMENT:

· Outdoor setting across varied terrain (greens, fairways, landscaped areas).

· Exposure to sunlight, rain, and occasional temperature extremes.

· Early morning, weekend, and holiday hours may be required
