We are currently recruiting for Crew Member, Crew Leader, & Forester positions. The field season runs from June to August, providing students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on field experience in one of the most breathtaking and challenging environments in the country.  As well as technicians to work locally out of Fairbanks on various state inventory projects. 

For candidates interested in roles within our forestry inventory program, especially those with an interest in aviation, we look for a combination of field and aviation-related skills:

Field Navigation: Proficiency in navigating challenging terrains using maps and compasses is essential for successful field operations in remote Alaskan locations.

Forest Measurements: Strong skills in taking accurate forest measurements using tools like measuring tapes, compasses, and vegetation identification, contributing to precise data collection.

Outdoor Endurance: Resilience and adaptability to endure long hours in outdoor environments, with a keen appreciation for the challenges posed by unpredictable weather, wildlife, and bugs.

Helicopter Operations: Familiarity with helicopter operations, including loading/unloading equipment, ensuring safety protocols, and effective communication with pilots for successful aerial access to field sites.

Aviation Competence: Proficiency in understanding and navigating aviation logistics, including the use of small Cessnas for reaching remote towns and aerial mapping for flight planning.

Safety Consciousness: A strong commitment to safety, particularly in aviation activities, showcasing the ability to adhere to safety protocols and respond effectively to emergencies.

Emergency Response: Training and experience in emergency response procedures related to aviation incidents, demonstrating the capability to handle unforeseen challenges during flights.

Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to liaise with pilots, crew members, and other stakeholders, ensuring smooth coordination during aviation-related activities.
