Michigan State University Extension and Purdue University Extension are pleased to once again host the Michiana Irrigated Corn and Soybean Conference. The conference will address water use and its effect on nutrient, weed and disease management in corn and soybeans for growers around the Michigan-Indiana state line. This year, the conference will be held at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds Ag Hall (17746 County Rd 34, Goshen, IN). Please note this is a different location than in years past. Lunch will be provided.
Registration will open at 8:30 a.m., and the conference will conclude at 4 p.m. There are 3 Michigan RUP and 4.5 CCA (1 NM, 2 SW, 1.5 PM) credits available from the conference. Indiana has CCH (Cat 1, Cat 14, RT) and PARP credits available. Main topics and speakers are as follows:
- Fertilizer and economics, Kurt Steinke, Jon LaPorte and Jeff Burbrink
- Irrigation water savings and management, Younsuk Dong, Angie Gradiz and Lyndon Kelley
- Climate change and effects on irrigated agriculture, Beth Hall
- Managing disease under irrigation, Marty Chilvers
- Maximizing full-season weed control, Tommy Butts
Thanks to the Michigan Soybean Committee and Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, the cost of the conference is only $25 for those registered by Feb. 25 ($35 after that date).
