Changing pesticide regulations can rapidly alter production practices that farmers use across many cropping systems. For many decades, chlorpyrifos was the primary tool used to manage soil insect pests of sweetpotato across the southern US. A combination of EPA registration decisions and European Union MRL changes forced growers to rapidly shift pest management practices away from chlorpyrifos over a period of several years. This talk focuses on research and extension deliverables that were required to transition production practices while minimizing economic loss.
Snacks are provided at 3:15pm. A coffee and snack social will occur after the seminar until 5:00pm.
