2025 Learning Exchange Series: Research priorities to reduce forest carbon leakage
March 11, 2025 2:00PM - 3:00PM
Zoom Webinar
The 2025 Forests + Climate Learning Exchange Series (LES) on forest carbon offsets, co-hosted by the Michigan State University Forest Carbon & Climate Program, Pennsylvania State University FOCCE Program, and the Society of American Foresters aims to bring leading experts in the forest carbon space together to not only identify major questions, barriers, and gaps surrounding carbon offsets and natural climate solutions, but to also work to solve the pressing issues of the field.
The LES’ paneled-webinar style talks encourage dialogue between thought leaders of diverse backgrounds to advance research priorities and identify paths forward.
Join Barbara Haya (UC Berkeley), Brent Sohngen (Ohio State), and Ethan Belair (The Nature Conservancy) for our third panel webinar: "Research priorities to reduce forest carbon leakage" will discuss urgent research needs to address carbon leakage, an unintended consequence that may reduce forest carbon offset mitigation benefits. This webinar will discuss emerging concepts to better understand and quantify forest carbon leakage and ultimately improve the credibility of forest carbon offsets in support greenhouse gas emission reductions.
Note: This webinar has been rescheduled from March 18 to March 11.
